Wakai (2026)

Wakai (Japanese for “reconciliation”) combines the clean aesthetic of a piano trio with subtle electronic accents.

Since 2007, König has been inspired by Ryuichi Sakamoto’s haunting closing score for the film Babel and the piano trio featured in it. His fascination with this ensemble was already evident on the album ‘_in between’ with the track ‘Reflections’, a sonic world he now further develops on Wakai. Recorded at Teldex Studio Berlin not on a classical concert grand piano, but on a softly dampened felt piano an intimate, finely nuanced sonic language emerges.

The EP explores the moments when opposites collide and reconcile between people, between silence and sound, between past and present. This creates a calm, emotional sonic space that allows for resonance and balance.

The second single, ‘Promising’, was released on March 6, 2026 via Hey!blau Records. The EP is set for release on April 17, 2026.
